Project: reducing packaging


We decided to reduce packaging by transforming boxes of food from parallelepipeds to cubes. Indeed the solid that encloses the largest volume in the lower surface is just the cube. We consider a cereal box and, after calculating its volume, we have designed the development of a cube that contained the same volume of the parallelepiped. After performing the necessary calculations, we concluded that making a cubic box instead of a parallelepiped saves about 28% of packaging. We also decided to propose the transformation of the packaging by parallelepiped to cube not only for the boxes of the foods, but also for the boxes of Lego that are very large in spite of containing only a few pieces. Finally we propose to apply a logo to signal to buyers that these products were packed saving more packaging possible.

App designers

Hello! We are the group responsible to design the app. To solve one of the problems of the recycling oli is creating an app. The objective of the app is to contact with an oil recycle enterprise to call them when a persona have oil to recycle. We will create the app with “App inventor”. This program is the most appropiate to do our app but we think is quite difficult.To create this app we'll do some steps:
  • The first step is to create a program in the app to make and save profile to the app.
  • The second step is to send the information to the enterprises using the app. 
  • The next step consists in getting the information stored in the cloud called Fusion Tables.
  • One of the most difficult step is create and send the data in the digital network (fusion table). 


  • Finally, the information arrives to the enterprises and they know that you are interested in recycle oil.

    Our opinion

    We haven't talked a lot about your idea yet. But our first opinion is that is easier to reduce the packaging of crisps, but we think that to recycle something liquid can be very difficult, because you can't change the form of a liquid. However,at least, you can change the form of the crisps, as Pringles did.

    Can designers

    Hi! We are the can designers.

    Our group is composed by 5 students. Since we started working, we have done lots of things. We spreaded all the things that we had to do. 
    For example, I had to do to the design of the can and think about the materials that can be used to make it. 
    Senda, a member of our group had to look for a filter to strain the oil. 
    Marc and Eloi are trying to design the can in 3D with one program called SketchUp, and Èric is doing the can description.
    Finally, we have solved some of the problems about the can.

    Reduce conteiners of juice

    Hola chicos,

    in addition to reduce the packaging of chips, we  decide to reduce conteiners of juice, transforming the shape of parallelepiped containers in cubes.we would love an opinion on our idea.

    The fourth mission

    HELLO GUYS!!!!
    The fourth mission is very difficult. We built a platform above our robot in which there are the blacks, yellow and blue bars.

    OUR STRATEGY


    Hello guys, we decide to divide the robotic challenge in 8 steps. In each of them, the robot will have to solve some missions and return into the base.

    1st lap = purchasing decision – base
    2nd lap = demolition’s handcart – base
    3rd lap= composting’s handcart – methane – scarp car – retade composting’s handcart - base
    4th lap = put the methane in the truck – spin the truck – take the plane – spin “demolition” – base
    5th lap= retade demolition’s handcart – base
    6th lap= put the methane in the purchasing decision – ring “sorting”
    7th lap= put the octopus in the circle – take the bag – spin the turtle in the circle – take the ring of “demolition” – base
    8th lap= sorting – men of sorting

    OUR SOLUTION

    Hello, how we said the problem that we want to solve is the oil trash, specifically we want to increase the recycled oil of our town. For this, we thought a system. This system consists of three solutions. The first one is a technologic solution, which is to make an App to make the dumb know who have oil to recycle. The second one is to make a container to put and strain the oil to make the process of recycling easier. The third one is to make a campaign to make the people be motivated and make aware recycling oil.
    For this, we thought it would be a good idea to dived the class in 4 groups. We divided it in 4 work groups: 
    • App designers group: They are the responsible of make the App of our scientific project.
    • Container designers group: They are the responsible of make the container of our scientific project.
    • Robot group: They are the responsible of prepare the robots missions.
    • Communication group: They are the responsible of the web and the blog.
